The privacy and security of all members of The Montvale Athletic League (MAL) is extremely important to The MAL. We do gather certain types of information about MAL members, so it is important that all MAL members completely understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of this information. This privacy statement discloses what information we do and do not collect and how we use it. Any questions or concerns regarding this statement may be directed to the MAL Board.
Should the MAL privacy policy change, all registered members will be notified via email and an announcement will appear on the home page of the MAL website.
Website Format | ||||
The MAL website is divided into two separate sections. First, is an open and unsecure section that the general internet public has access to. Second, is a secured and restricted area that is unique to each registered member. This secured area requires username and password verification and applies a variety of industry standard security measures to maintain the safety of each member's personal information. Further details on these measures are described below, under security.
Site Registration | ||||
To interact with the MAL website, each user will be required to create an account through the registration process. Information that will be collected include name, email address, street address, and phone number. Due to the nature of the MAL activities we also collect information about the athletes including name, date of birth and grade. This information is used solely for the purpose of administering to and conducting the activities of the MAL. Under no circumstances will any of this information be shared with any other parties. Though accepted on the MAL website, credit card and banking information is not stored on the MAL website nor on any databases accessible to the MAL website. When conducting financial transactions, the MAL website passes this information to the financial transaction processors through the secured internet gateway. Each subsequent financial transaction conducted on the MAL website will require a re-entry of this information.
Cookies | ||||
"Cookies" are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. In general, cookies work by assigning to your computer a unique number that has no meaning outside of the MAL website. We use cookies to establish and maintain the user's session when they log into the MAL Store. Information that is stored includes the user name as well as data used to keep track of your shopping cart. Once a member logs out of their session, all cookies are deleted. Should a user leave their member session logged in, cookies will expire after 60 minutes. The user will then need to login again to re-establish their session. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent that. Not accepting cookies, however, may make certain features of the MAL website unavailable to you.
IP Addresses & Browsers
The MAL website does collect information about the IP address and browser that each member uses. This information is used in a layer of security as well as to help diagnose any technical issues that may arise.
Security | ||||
The MAL has established and maintains reasonable security procedures to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of your personally identifiable information. We use a variety of industry-standard security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Personal information that is collected is stored in a secure operating environment that is not available to the general public, nor to the internet public. All activities conducted in the MAL Store, including registration, credit card and bank information supplied by users is transmitted via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. This means that information you provide is encrypted so that it can't be read or intercepted by other people. The MAL website contains a valid SSL certificate which is a statement verifying the security of the MAL website. This certificate shows that the security applied to the MAL website is authentic. It also ensures that no other site can assume the identity of the MAL site.
Unfortunately, complete security does not exist on the internet. However, the MAL website has employed and will continue to employ the most update features in internet security to protect all of our members. As an internet user, you can further educate yourself on internet privacy at DigiCert. |
